About the Journal

The JOURNAL of COACHING ETHICS (JoCE) is an open-access peer-reviewed journal, committed to fostering ethical discourse within coaching practice, supervision, research and the coaching profession.

The JoCE aims to encourage critical analysis of ethical issues relating to coaching and the coaching profession. JoCE is committed to fostering ethical discourse within coaching practice, supervision, research and the coaching profession more broadly. The JoCE is also interested in the development of coaching theory, ethical theory and philosophy and how it applies to coaching practice.

Other topics of interest are power, culture, artificial intelligence, gender, internal coaching, life coaching, executive coaching, promotion of coaching, sustainability, case studies and other areas that influence coaching practice. The JoCE publishes invited editorials, theoretical, applied, empirical, quantitative and qualitative research papers, short reports, conference proceedings, perspectives, book reviews and invited articles, in any domain of coaching, mentoring or helping profession with reference to ethics. 

Publication Formats :

JoCE is a double-blind peer-review journal, with some exceptions, (for example conference proceedings), that accepts various manuscript types as listed below:

Peer Review Process

The JOURNAL of COACHING ETHICS (JoCE) is an internationally recognised electronic journal, published once a year. Papers can be submitted at any time, they will be held until reviewed by the editorial review committee. 

The initial review process takes about 4 weeks, post-deadline for submissions. All submitted articles will be acknowledged.

JOURNAL of COACHING ETHICS uses OJS PKP Open Journal System Submission to manage the submission process.

Any instances of plagiarism will be automatically declined and the said authors will be prevented from resubmitting to the JoCE

Publication Frequency 

The JoCE is published once a year.

Submissions must be made before 1 February each year to be considered for the forthcoming March publication.

At the JOURNAL of COACHING ETHICS ( JoCE), the integrity of our academic content is of great importance. This document highlights the practices we put in place. They are of use to not only authors, but our reviewers and editors too. The JoCE subscribes to the guidelines put forward by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), an organization that sets ethical standards for publishing worldwide. We adopt their main principles and invite you to become familiar with them by clicking here.

The JoCE is sponsored by the Coaching Ethics Forum (CEF) an independent forum dedicated to the ethical dimensions in the field of coaching, coach supervision and education. To do this CEF seek to engage in discussions with the coaching community (coaches, coaching bodies, coach supervisors, coach educators, coaching researchers, HR, coaching and consulting organisations, and all who are interested in ethics). CEF hope to positively influence coaches' thinking and practice across professional contexts, and the broader community it regularly engages. CEF activities are available at Coaching Ethics Forum (CEF). The JoCE is otherwise independent of any university, institution, or organisation.
